Custom patchwork memory quilt by This Splendid Chaos, made with clothing and Essex linen in flax.

Memory Quilt - The first chapters of a lifetime

This custom memory quilt was made with clothing that spanned from the days when she was just a little baby, to the beginning of her life as a young adult heading off into the world.

These items of clothing were supplemented with Robert Kaufman Essex yarn dye in Flax. I love the texture of this fabric and how it softens up with time.

I free-motion quilted a stipple across the quilt on my Qnique 21R and pieced it together on an old Bernina machine.

I like to source my fabrics locally and often check out Fabrications and Mad About Patchwork, which within driving distance. When I can't find what I'm looking for I've found some other great fabric stores within the area-ish (within Canada). I'm always on the lookout for great places so feel free to drop me a line if you have any suggestions for fabric or batting.

Below is a list of some of the shops I've been happy with over the last few years.
