Hello Rosie!

A new addition to the family is always a reason to celebrate. Rosie was as adorable in real life as she is in these photos. This session was a few weeks back, so I imagine she's in her gangly stage now. Long legs, crazy eyes, deep sleepy running dreams. Absolute perfection. There is no love quite like that of a good dog and I foresee Rosie and her family making many beautiful memories in the years to come.

Although this session was booked to mark Rosie's entrance into the family, an in-home session also gives space for group family photos and bits of lived-life in a place of comfort and familiarity.

Here's a sampling from their session.

A few things you might notice:

  • This family chose to coordinate their clothing and went with blues. Not too matchy-matchy, but it tied them all together nicely. It's perfect for more orchestrated family photos (ie. makes for nice Christmas card photos). You can opt instead to have a documentary style session, where you just wear whatever you're wearing. It's up to you.

  • This session was in their backyard and in their home. No need to travel anywhere, no unfamiliar settings. Great for anyone, but especially if you've got pets, family members with mobility issues, or folks with neuro-differences who do better in a spot they feel comfortable. You can also choose to meet up somewhere that has meaning for your family or a pretty place to explore, or a coffee shop, you can go anywhere.

  • I made sure to get a group photo with everyone, cousins with grandparents, parents with kids, and photos of mom and dad, and grandma and grandpa together. This is just some of the photos, but I do my best to ensure everyone is in multiple images, as well as they have their own with just them.

  • Puppies are adorable! You can probably tell I enjoyed getting down on the ground to play around with her and I think she liked me.

It was a lot of fun to meet this vibrant, fun, connected, warm family and to play with their puppy. Thanks for the opportunity L & S!

Would you like to have a session at home? if so, there's a button just there below this paragraph... you see it? It'll take you right to my contact page and you can drop me a line. I'd love to make beautiful images with you.
